Newport, RI – September 24, 2015 – Child & Family’s 149th Annual Meeting will feature Jamia McDonald, Chief Strategy Officer for the Rhode Island Executive Office of Health & Human Services. Appointed by Governor Gina Raimondo, McDonald oversees the Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF). One of McDonald’s first tasks was to start the turnaround of the troubled Department. In addition to hearing from Jamia McDonald, guests will learn about Child & Family’s Strategic Plan for the future, and plans for the upcoming 150th Anniversary of the social service agency’s founding in 1866. The milestone will commence in January and continue through December 2016 with celebration events and activities scheduled throughout the year.
As in past years, the Annual Meeting also provides an opportunity for Child & Family to honor those who have helped the agency “make a difference” in Newport County and throughout Rhode Island. This year’s honorees include:
Philanthropists of the Year

- Bart Dunbar and Lisa Lewis
