Betsy Akin joins executive leadership team
Middletown, Rhode Island, August 4, 2017 — Child & Family is pleased to announce that Betsy Akin has been selected as the new Vice President of Fund Development, an integral part of the organizations leadership team. Akin will plan and execute a comprehensive development plan to support the programs and services that reach more than 6,000 individuals annually in Rhode Island.
Marty Sinnott, President & CEO shares that “Betsy will bring to us a wealth of experience in fund development, expertise in corporate strategic partnerships, special events and volunteer management and communications. Akin is an authentic, mission driven professional with a proven track record in the nonprofit industry and commitment to social justice”. Akin recently was the Director of Development for Amnesty International and prior to this appointment, she had spent more than 14 years at the March of Dimes Foundation, where she held the dual roles of Director of the New England Collaborative and the Rhode Island State Executive Director.
Betsy will focus on expanding the interrelationship between community engagement, fund development and messaging to increase resources and raise awareness of all aspects of
Child & Family’s work and its mission to support thousands of children, teens, families and elders each year through multiple programs and services. Betsy calls Portsmouth home.
