Over 200 people gathered at Rosecliff Mansion on Thursday, September 29, 2016 for Child & Family’s 150th annual meeting. Governor Gina Raimondo presented the Keynote Address focusing on the need to reduce residential group homes and increasing the number of foster homes in the state “…everyone deserves a chance, regardless of where they have started.” She presented Marty Sinnott President & CEO and Lyn Dawley, Chairwoman of Board of Directors, a citation acknowledging Child & Family’s 150th Anniversary and longstanding history and impact Child & Family has made in Newport County and throughout Rhode Island.
Lyn Dawley presented the financial state of the agency and Marty Sinnott provided an overview of our history and how Child & Family has and will continue to move with the changing landscape and provide the much needed services to strengthen the fabric of families.
Child & Family, along with the Governor recognized 3 Residential Group Home residents who have defied the odds and have overcome challenging obstacles. Recognition was also given to those who have greatly contributed to the agency’s success through award presentations.
The following community members, organizations and business were recognized at this year’s meeting.
- Philanthropists of the Year – Ms. Ann Conner & Mr. & Mrs. Christopher and Laura Yalanis
- Business Partners of the Year – The Good Toy Group and the Hotel Viking, Newport
- Volunteers of the Year – Mr. & Mrs. Joseph and Lyse Dobrott
