As a Certified Child Life Specialist working in community mental health, I am thankful to have found my home in FCT. Most of all, I'm thankful for the support of Child & Family leadership and my husband for supporting my passion for this work.
What an FCT practitioner does
Family Centered Treatment is an intensive, evidence-based program for families at risk of having a child removed from the home, or welcoming a child back from an out-of-home placement.
Shows up at home
Practitioners meet with families in their own homes several times a week, in sessions that last several hours.
On call around the clock
Every family on a practitioner's caseload has 24/7 crisis support.
Puts caregivers in the lead
Caregivers learn the skills to guide their family, so the changes last after the practitioner is gone.
Supports recovery too
FCT-R adds substance use treatment for families where a parent or youth is in recovery, treating it as a whole-family journey.
FCT at Child & Family outperforms the national average
Fiscal year 2025 outcomes for Family Centered Treatment, compared with national FCT results.
