Twin brothers, Andre and Ricky were ten, and their sister Julia was eight, when all three first entered the RI Foster Care system in 2009. They had been living with their Aunt, because their birth mother was unable to fully provide for them. Due to abuse and neglect they were removed from their Aunt’s care and briefly placed in a RI shelter. Eventually they were placed with Casey Family Services Foster Care, which is now Child & Family Foster Care. In 2011, all three children were freed for adoption, as their birth parents were still unable to care for them. Through the good work of our Foster Care program and Adoption Rhode Island, the children were reunified and placed in the home of a pre-adoptive family where they flourished. One November 17, 2012, National Adoption Day, Andre, Ricky and Julia reached permanency; they were legally adopted by their pre-adoptive family. They look forward to growing up together.
