BankNewport has remained an active partner in strengthening our communities alongside Child & Family’s initiatives for well over a century. Since its founding in 1819, BankNewport has recognized a strong connection between the health of the community they serve and the health of their own company. This core belief has motivated their business model to continuously change reflecting the socioeconomic needs of their clients over time.

Sandra J. Pattie, the bank’s President and CEO, recalls her first introduction to Child & Family nearly 30 years earlier as a game changer.  A community service project that included a day of hard work repainting the interior of the old 24 School Street building offered up inspiration to continue assisting those in need.    “It made me appreciate how simple things that we may take for granted, such as clean, bright paint in a room used for client counseling, can have a positive influence on someone’s outlook in understanding that people care,” she says.

For many years, BankNewport employees and executives have teamed up to volunteer on committees, boards, and events benefiting Child & Family programs and services. They believe that financial giving by individuals and businesses, with a vested interest in the community, is the lifeblood of a nonprofit organization. Their unwavering support of Child & Family has influenced enormous transformation of the community both in the past and well into the future. “When the community comes together to support an organization as far reaching as Child & Family, great things can happen,” says Pattie.
